PROSTATE GLAND:
It consists of two portions. 1) body-external/compact 2) Disseminate part- internal
The tubuloalveolar gland is derived from the epithelium of the pelvic urethra. External parts surround the pelvic urethra. Disseminate is located in the propria-submucosa of the pelvic urethra.
Epithelium: simple cuboidal to columnar. The alveolar sacs and ducts are surrounded by loose connective tissue containing smooth muscle.
The prostate gland may contain calcified secretions called prostatic concretions.
