Proximal Convoluted tubule : Longest segment of nephron
The cells are more acidophilic, pyramidal in shape having spherical nucleus.
The surface has microvilli, giving an appearance of a brush border.
Differentiation between
proximal and distal tubules:
•
Few cross and oblique sections of DCT because not as long as the proximal
•
Lumen of distal tubules are larger because low epithelium
•
More nuclei than in C.S of proximal
•
Pale cytoplasm is usually less acidophilic
